Who’s hungry?  Burger Battle is a game of wits, luck, and desire to be the first to build their own custom hamburger.  Beware of your nefarious opponents as they will seek to sabotage your efforts and propel themselves to victory!

Gameplay Mechanics

10/10

Goal

Winning player hand

Be the first to collect all of the ingredients for your burger.

Setup

Game setup

Shuffle the Burger cards and deal one randomly to each player.  Shuffle the ingredients and Battle cards and deal 5 cards to each player. Last person to eat a burger goes first.

Turns

Rulebook

Players will draw a card and then play a card.  If the card is an ingredient for their burger, they then play it to the table and draw another card.  This repeats until the player can’t play an ingredient to the table. The player may then play a Battle card or discard any card from their hand to end their turn.

Battle cards are useful cards to help you stymie your opponent (Burger Bomb, More Meat) or help you in some way (Grave Digger, Gonna Eat That?).  Just watch out for the Burgerpocalypse.

Destroy! card

Initial Impressions

8/10

Quick, easy game for anyone who likes hamburgers and frustrating your friends and family.

More Meat! card

Game Build Quality

9/10

The components are two types of cards — the overlarge Burger cards and standard playing cards of the ingredients and Battle cards.  The quality is what you’d expect from Panda Manufacturing.

Gonna Eat That? card

Artistic Direction

9/10

The style is consistent and simple, like you’d see in children’s books about food.  The game is about hamburgers so you don’t need to be overly complex or detailed. It fits just right with the game.

The Old Switcheroo card

Fun Factor

8/10

Racing to build your burger and giving it to your opponents is a lot of fun.  There are so many different ways to get in their way that it never gets old.

Picky Eater card

Age Range & Weight

5/10

Age range shows 14+ but this is way off base.  The game’s theme and simple rules put this game down to 8+, maybe 5+ plus because it would be a good teaching game for reading and pattern matching.

I Got Nothin' card

Conclusions

8.1/10

My teenage son especially loved the game, though he kept getting frustrated by my constant winning.  Those Burger Bombs and Burgerpocalypse are insidious. The game is fast and fun, easily played multiple times.  After playing it a bit, it makes you wish there were more Burger cards to choose from as there are many possibilities even with just the ingredients already in the game.  There is also plenty of potential for many other Battle cards too.
